Seed is spread evenly behind the sweep to almost the full width of the cut. Then, the soil is evenly packed with a coil packer. If fertilizer is required, it can be mixed with the seed at the air cart (single-shoot) and spread with the seed. The spread pattern allows for full rates of fertilizer in most crop situations, or fertilizer can be banded in a separate operation.
